I have only seen one or two Malcome hoods for real, pretty rare. Does anyone know the source of this plane, is it a restoration one created all new?

She's a dataplate Bill..and maybe a bit or two. 1st Lt. Dean R. Gilmore,
P51B, 43-12252 a tribute by Martin Kyburz, here at
www.swissmustangs.ch/72468.html

You might give the WIX archives a search using the serial or Gilmore to find
more info.

Still Remembering Dean, Karen!

Looking very nice indeed, and I'm really glad that they're going to paint it rather than leave it in the currently in-vogue 'mirror polish' finish.

That's going to be so cool looking with the Malcolm hood ... I'd have painted it as Hofer's Salem Representative, but that's just me.

What's up with the WW's anyway? Did some units substitute aircraft tires with automobile tires or did they come from NAA that way?
