I dont really see any trouble in manufacturing new builds, there are existing examples to study, (Im going to presume their are plans around too)...So you have to pay for tooling, parts manufacturing, and find people to build it...Again though all it takes is several dump trucks full of dough

I have a fantasy , and not being an engineer it seems totally plausible; In the next 20 to 40 years, the advancement of technology will be such that anything can be replicated 100% scale for a fraction of today's costs.
Probably by the Chinese. If you can supply the working blueprints or the aircraft components that can be reverse engineered then they can model it and duplicate to your specifications.Updated designs of classic engines could also be put back into production, whatever is needed.
The Chinese aren't hampered by OSHA, EPA, Unions, high wages, etc. Maybe some small shops that instead of being "design to order" are "orders by design."
Let's say they manufacture 100 P-51D-30's . It would look, have the same specifications, and perform comparable to an original. The difference with Computer Aided Manufacturing is that the internal structure, aluminum alloys, placement of rivets etc. will be different. Internally , some improvements would be made to save weight, space and cost of manufacturing. External specifications would be the same as desired. Parts would typically not be interchangeable with original items.
If there is a warbird movement in 40 years, then I believe there will be priceless originals, too valuable to be flown, yet highly collectible. And new build Second Generation types available for the price of say a King Air or VLJ, maybe cheaper.

If you are replying to that new movie Thunder Over Reno, you are correct. Now for the rebuilt aircraft, I say sure. Just as long as one realizes how much will be involved with a large aircraft.

I wish it would happen. I'd like to see espically B-26's and B-24's become more plentiful again. The "New Build" idea seems to be the best way. Only if I had money.

Marine air is right, if someone could do it, it would be the Chinese. But I think airframes aren't the big problem. That's just a pile of alloy bent in the right shape. With CAD-Cam and CNC technology it's fairly easy. Powerplant are a different story. Here you need to work with existing stocks (limited) or start building new ones (at what price ?).
