This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Was by the Denton, TX airport at "lunch" today and met an acquaintance of Gary's..Sea Fury N39SF..and it's "temporary custodian" John.
Super nice guy..going out for a spin...so to speak.

Thanks for posting that. I absolutely love the Hawker Sea Fury! They are beautiful machines and they just seem to cruise along effortlessly while doing an amazing clip. I wish there was still one around here.
Cheers,
David

Thanks for posting that Zane. I haven't talked with John for a while now, so if you see him again, tell him I said howdy!

Gary,
When I asked John if he was a WIX guy (I ask everyone around warbirds now) he said he was a lurker...and we got to talking about the site and 927, he mentioned you had put your mark on his airplane.
(warning...blowing smoke)
He said you were a great guy and very good wrench...gave you a sincere and glowing recommendation...
He says hi.

Awww....shucks.
John's Fury is one of Nelson's works of art (I believe it's the second one he and his crew built). I was only a very small part of maintaining it after it had already been flying (originally for Henry Haigh). Although I did hang a couple of engines on it.
I do miss working on Sea Furies though.

Zane,
How is it that you keep running into cool airplanes "at lunch"? What kind of job do you have that lets you roam around airports? My office doesn't even have a window 'cuz it's in the basement!
Cheers!

Thanks guys!
Dean,
I have that, office in your car, on the run most of the time, outside sales type job. AND I have a great boss who does not mind the occasional, off course detour, as long as the job is getting done, the customers are happy and the company is making money.
I make it by Meacham about once a week, Denton about once a month, etc...sometimes I get lucky and get to see something way cool!
