Flying gear displays at airshows - help needed to show off

Sun Apr 08, 2007 6:57 am

Im a collector and restorer of flying gear eg helmets, suit, oxygen masks, jackets etc.

My collection covers from WW2 - modern times and is a mix of RAAF and US military sets. Mainly focused on Korea and Vietnam and expanding into WW2 as i go.

I am interested in doing a "living hisotory" kind of displays at airshows but im finding it difficult to find anyone who is interested in seeing the old flightgear. It is popular in overseas airshows i note alot.

Also does anyone in Australia - Sydney or NSW have a contact or know people who would be interested in providing a aircraft from ww2 to current warbird type to act as a background for a phoot shoot also? I am interested in having period era photos taken also if can be organised.

If anyone can help on both queries i would be very grateful.

If you are near Reading, Pennsylvania in Early JUne you might want to stop by and take notes. Some fantastic Living history and displays.

It also helps to have the airplanes with you when you display. We have a Living History Group at LSFM. Sometimes we will take our gear and display it with Thunderbird or even wear it. Its a good teaching tool!!!
