That photo reminds me of a story my Dad once told me.
He was studying in his dorm at Notre Dame one Sunday morning in 1943 when he head a loud racket. He looked down out of the third floor window just as a P-38 flew by below him! It banked up and over the Gold ND Dome and hi-tailed it outta there. He said it was probably a recent graduate on his way overseas.
Dad said it was one of the neatest things he'd ever seen.

Interesting, has anyone noticed the flaps down, seems odd for a "Buzz job", maybe more of a look see for a gear problem ???

I think that is the "combat flap" setting that a P-38 has...
