To the best of my knowledge (which comes from living in Appleton for 30 years) this F-86 has been in the same spot for as long as I remember. If it was ever on Hwy 41, it was before I was old enough to notice.
The EAA used to have a group of jets on display right next to US 41, just to the south of their F-86 on a stick. They were removed quite a few years ago. The F-100 that used to in that group is now at the South Dakota Air and Space Museum, at Ellsworth AFB.
If anyone is interested, there is a T-33 on a pole in Sherwood, which very near High Cliff State Park, not too far out of Appleton.

This one isn't in the Locator either, but I haven't researched Wisconsin yet. Where exactly is it located? Can you provide an intersection? Or maybe even the coordinates? For tips on obtaining coordinates, visit...

I tried Google Earth and Google Maps, but they don't have satellite photos of the area that are detailed enough to see the plane.
If you try Yahoo Maps, and type in Sherwood, Wisconsin, you can find the American Legion Park that borders Clifton Road. There is another street, John Street, across from the park. The T-33 is on the southeast corner of the driveway into the park off of Clifton Road, across from and slightly east of John Street.
Have you looked into Camp Douglas, near Sparta? There are several aircraft, including (but not limited to) a P-51D, F-102, and a TF-102. That's all I can remember at the moment. Might also be an A-7.

That would splain why I could not find it again along 41. I must have remembered the location wrong. My first sighting of the F-86 was back around 1993 or so. It was a rainy day in Oshkosh so we decided to head to Appleton and check out an establishment in the parking lot of the Fox River Mall

The Fox River Mall owners have tried flinging a *lot* of money at the owner of that particular establishment in order to get him to move. He refuses every time. To be fair, he was there first... And it adds a certain "je ne sais quoi" to the neighborhood.

Not specifically working the WI section, but I like to jump on targets of opportunity.
As for the F9F, I already have it.
I don't have those T-33s. What part of the airport are they parked at? They look like they belong to a tech school.

Well, I guess one could describe the following as what happens when a Luddite battles technology and loses. My photographic rhubarb of the area encountered sun, rain, wind, snow, ice pellets, blood, sweat, and tears. But what really stunk is when I downloaded all my pics at the end of the day, only to discover that every stinkin' one was tinted blue.
The joke's on me--and I apologize now for the pitiful results--but at least should give you some idea of what one might find lying around outside around Lake Winnebago on a snowy spring day.
Today's photo recon began in Oshkosh. The F-89 and C-47 are a little eye candy the EAA has guarding the museum.
I began to wonder how many folks have made the trip to OSH but may never have seen the boneyard at Basler Conversions. So if you like the DC-3/C-47, this is where elephants go to die...
And just a few more that have been parked on the farm across the street.
So what have we here?
A closer look reveals an under-ripe banana!
In response to my question, the nice lady at the Basler front desk was quite certain that the large piece of fruit was only being stored in their yard and not presently a candidate for restoration to flight.
But enough of OSH...time to ride off to the forests of Sherwood.
Chris's directions were spot on. Departing Hwy 114 on Clifton Street for a couple of blocks revealed a little Lockheed hiding around the corner of the local rec building.
I again apologize for the lack of chromatic control of my subject, but at least you get an idea of what's there. What appears to be snow was actually frozen ice pellets--just painful enough to take pics out an open car window. The sign reads This aircraft is on loan from the United States Air Force Museum. No painted id numbers.
The journey continued south along the east shore (through an assortment of sun, rain, and blowing snow) to Fond du Lac, where the following Cobra can be found at the Fond du Lac County Veterans Memorial Building, located at the intersection of Boyd Street and Fond du Lac Avenue (North end of the Fond du Lac County Fairground).
Since the Appleton Sabredog has already been covered, since WIXers can look inside the Airventure Museum via webcam, and since the crummy weather had various hangars of interest buttoned up, I decided to call it quits at this point.
Did I apologize about the photos already?

Those are all great photos. Thanks for posting them. They kind of make me miss being home, with the ice pellets and all.
There also is, or was, a Hawker Hunter sitting on the north ramp in Oshkosh by the Weeks Hangar. It was for sale on the Courtesy website for a mere $35,000. It might be gone now, but it was still there in January, when I was last home.
Those T-33's in Janesville sure look interesting, too. Wonder if Blackhawk Tech would be willing to part with them...
