I am sure that I have mentioned my long time friend and old neighbor that flew PBJ's for the Marines here before. Yesterday morning he passed away. He was a pilot in VMB-413 in the Pacific. I basically grew up in their house as I was best friends with both of his grandsons. I was never treated like a visitor in their house, but as a family member. He taugh tme many life lessons as a young boy, and he will be greatly missed. It is always sad to read about WWII vets that pass away, but this one reallt struck home.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss, but you can be proud to have known such a great man. I am envious that you had the opportunity to have gotten to know him.

I know you have mentioned your friend in response to some of my postings about VMB-611. Although I do not know you nor your long-time friend, I feel a sense of deep sorrow in this Marine's passing.

As the son of a brother Marine Bombing Squadron PBJ pilot from his sister squadron VMB-611, please extend my sincere condolences to his family.

We have lost another member of the Greatest Generation.

IN HIS HONOR,

SEMPER FI
