A few i did in 1/144th scale. The two hurricanes and zero have completely vacu-formed canopies. With the zero's canopy slid back, i included a small pilot bailing out. There are several scratch built things in the Battle of Britian set, including the bike, pilots shed, windsock and pole.

Where'd you find a P-51A in 1/144? Or is it a conversion?

It was a revell P-51B and i just cut out the chin scoop and put putty in. I also sanded down the bottom air intake, and put in the appropiate scoop on the top of the nose.

Oh! One of my favorite touches (If you guys didnt get to see, i know its a crappy picture) is the guy i had sleeping on the wing, while the other guy is leaning against the fuselage talking to him.

Thanks I try. Ive got a few more on the burner. Im thinking of an air to air battle (Battle of Britan) theme again, with a He-111, Hurricane, and Me-109.

Anyone else working on 1/144th stuff? Or have any questions on this size?

I normally stick with 1/72 (and take plenty of grief from fellow club members about building "Toy Scale.") I've got the old Monogram B-36..it would look really cool built up, but for space considerations I may get the Hobbycraft 1/144 kit instead.

Yeah thats the great thing about 1/144th. I am able to have a 10ft by 3ft table in my basement that i can display all the aircraft, at an airfield.

Ive built 5 or 6 different hangers out of plastic and cardboard, and used the corgi airfield set (that comes with numerous scale buildings that you fold and construct) and have created a full airstrip!

I'm messing around with some Mincraft 144th PBY kits with the goal of a set of all iterations of Lone Star's PBY, N68740. RCAF, civil and generic USN as it's now displayed.
I've been more into 1/72 fighters due to space considerations but find them to my liking. I'm also trying to de rust some long unused model building skills.
The Mincraft PBY's are not real good quality and Iwouldnt recommend them. The plastic is flexible and warped in the pkg. The blisters are [i]staggered[/i],.... WRONG! They have a lot of gaps to putty, too.
I'd like to do more 1/72 for the time being and would like to hear from some more modellers. I need to learn some technique too. I also need t know a source of USAAF squadrons and markings. Sorry to hear you didn't like this particular model. I have already had the chance to build one, and i found it to be a good built model. As well as I've seen some pictures of other modelers that went to town on this model!

I'd like to do my second PBY kinda like this one done by Craig Pierce in 1/144th.

Hey, that's some good detail work in that little scale. I'd particularly like to know what medium and technique was used to make the water surface.
Work on the chartreuse goose goes in spurts. I build models on my garage workbench and that's only in nice weather where I can open the garage so it doesnt' get full of PLA Enamel and glue fumes. We have four dogs that sleep in there in winter. About time for those hairballs to be yard dogs again.

I believe every modeller should have his or her own private workspace that is only for models. A "happy" place if you will.

It's not so bad really. I do love my dogs, even the two that came to visit a couple of years ago and never left. Besides, when I remarried, my better half said basically that she would decorate inside and the garage was my space. Anything goes out there as long it isn't naked women. Posters and pictures of aircraft, bikes, street rods, etc. now cover the walls and a good portion of the ceiling. I recommend ownership of a good staple gun.
And I'm still real unhappy with the Mincraft PBY kit. I may not even build the other one I have. Want it? BTW, I'm flying to Barksdale AFB airshow in a couple of weeks on Lone Star's B-17, Thunderbird. Rock on!

Bought another Minicraft B-25 recently too. Still debating on what im gonna make it?

Anyways, that sounds interesting! I’ve never flown in a warbird yet. Lone Star's B-17 is great!
