GREAT photos! Welcome aboard.

Thanks to all -- I have thousands of these, so I'm sure you will see more.

Gary -- I did see that, and have wanted to thank you very much for crediting me in your post. One problem with the internet is that it is so easy to move images around with or without crediting those who have produced the images. I love sharing what I do, but do like being given some credit for the thousands of hours and tens of thousands of dollars that have gone into this odd pursuit of mine over these many years. When I get a chance I'll post a better scan of the shot -- from the original slide rather than from a print like your post. Actually it might be interesting to have a thread on the strange things that happen to airframes under high power at high speed. I have surprised many a pilot and mechanic over the years with shots of their baby under stress...

Speaking of work (!!) I have very much enjoyed your postings of your efforts on Diamond LIL! Hard to believe that after a day doing that kind of hard labor that you take the time to post these great images of your work in progress. All this time I've been enjoying your posts, and I didn't even realize that we have actually met. Kind of embarrassing, actually!

Well Neal, IF I can get my personal issues taken care of, perhaps you can get a shot or two of me flying around the pylons at Reno this year. I'll be the rookie in a junky ol' Cassutt racer (Race number 13X).

That I would enjoy, Gary -- hope you do get those issues settled. I am quite close to the IF1s -- a truly great bunch of folks, and real racers! The problem, I guess, is that a Cassutt is not a Warbird, so I guess we would have to get a special dispensation from our fearless leader Scott to post the photos here, LOL!

Has the airplane ever raced before? Do you have much time in it? Don't you have to attend PRS in June to contemplate racing in September?

And why the X in 13X??

I've never been to an air race and I admit I dont know much about racers but this sounds like a great place to learn.

Sorry everyone, for my insistance on dragging this thread off topic.

Neal, the airplane flew in the last Cleveland Air Races as "Maybe's Baby." It'll race with the same name this year (tradition).

Yes, I have to go to the rookie school, so if things work out, I'll be there. Difficult to say if I'll make it at this point, however.

The "X" in my race number was issued to me years ago, when I joined IF1. At the time, I didn't care for it (of course, I didn't have a plane to race then either), but I think I'll keep it now. I'll keep you posted on what happens with my potential racing future.

Sorry y'all......now back to the topic. :D
