This would be a good site to add to the Locator. Where exactly is Basler located?

The journey continued south along the east shore (through an assortment of sun, rain, and blowing snow) to Fond du Lac, where the following Cobra can be found at the Fond du Lac County Veterans Memorial Building, located at the intersection of Boyd Street and Fond du Lac Avenue (North end of the Fond du Lac County Fairground).

Is that AH-1 on the NE corner, SE corner or SW side? It is not on in the Google or Maps Live images.

Address for Basler in Oshkosh. This is their corporate office address. At least a few of their airplanes are kept on the north side of the airport at their FBO along 20th Avenue. Check Yahoo Maps.

It is a pretty neat operation. They re-manufacture DC-3's, and put turboprops on them.

Like Chris stated, Basler Turbo Conversions is located on the SW corner of Oregon Street (runs N-S) and 35th (E-W). Search on the SE end of Wittman Airport and you'll find it. Additional airframes and major components are stored on a farm property on the east side of Oregon Street.

I should have clarified: Basler doesn't scrap DC-3's, but rather stretches the fuselage and adds turbines.


The AH-1 is located on the SW side of the intersection of Boyd Street and Fond du Lac Avenue in Fond du Lac.

I have created an entry with an approximate location (it will be in tonight's upload). The Google images in that area are very poor. MS Maps Live and Yahoo are better, but helos are very difficult to pick out from ground clutter even with a very good image. Hence... an approimate location at the center of town on road D.

Since we're on the subject of warbirds in Wisconsin locales, here's the T-33 that sits outside of the American Legion in New Richmond, WI. I took this pic a couple years ago, but I drove by the place two days ago and it's still there.

I assume the light behind the cockpit wasn't standard equipment.

This is a small but neat museum which includes the flying replica of the Johnson Wax Sikorsky S-38 and an exhibit on Racine native and Tidalwave MOH recipient Maj. John Jerstad. Jerstad and Dick Bong were Wisconsin's only USAAF MOH recipients during WWII.

Ahhhh.... It amazes me how many sites are cryptic, like hiding aircraft lists, or not providing one at all. You would be surprised how many sites don't even tell you where the museum is located. I would guess about half. Of the other 50%, only a street address is provided, or poor directions or a poor graphical map is provided. The rare few actually give something useful like a link into Google Maps. You would think that the museums would be interested in increasing their gate revenue, but with sites that provide little useful info for a visitor... oh never mind. Rant over.
