Hoping for Good Weather

Wed Apr 11, 2007 11:25 am

I took the Spitfire to Ray Middleton at Loveland to have the prop govenor sent for overhaul on March 5. Guys talk about warbird parts being made of unobtanium; I think Spit parts are devirived from moon rock alloys. Anyway the the govenor finally returned from the oh shop, with the custom made washers; but now the wind is blowing so hard they can't open the hangar doors to move the plane inside to reinstall the gov. The sun is trying to come out, it would be good skiing today, it was 19*F in town this am, and there is new snow, but I'd sure like to go flying. I am trying to get to Burnet, just west of Austin for the CAF show Sat 14, then on to Sun N Fun, then back for the Lone Star show at the end of the month. The Colorado weather is forecast to be snow Thur and Fri., not clearing until Sat I'm hoping, and also it would be good t have a few prctice flights before leaving.

Well I hope you have good weather. I have been zapped by weather on countless times and in aviation...as in sailing....you eaither have to adopt a stoic attitude towards weather or go mad.

shows

If I see any people from WIX at one of the shows I'd be glad if you say hello. I may only recognize your web names, I am terrible about remembering people's names and it is embarrassing. Also if I am about to fly in the show or have just landed and am getting fuel or oil, I will be trying to concentrate. When that is done, like after flying or at night I've got lot's of time to talk.

Sounds like I should have waited a couple of weeks to take the weekend ski trip with the missus. Nothing like new snow at the end of the season and no spring break crowds.

Weather here in the Chicago area is crazy. Flew the Stearman in nice conditions yesterday and today it snowed 4". Have fun on your trip.

waiting

It is now Thursday morning, and I'm still waiting and hoping. Much more emphasis on the waiting part. It is about 30* and snowing lightly.
