I like touch icing, because I believe in its original purpose which is to distinguish between an icing caused by a missed headman pass (where the offensive team should have a good chance of touching first) versus a desperation dump. Maybe they should just call more penalties to handle the injury issue. It is almost always obvious several strides away who is going to get there first so there should be a very low tolerance for creaming the defender if he touches first. OTOH, if the offensive player touches first and the play stays live, it's no different from any other race to the puck and should be treated as such.
Since this is a warbird forum I thought you guys might like to see my little puck collection from my hometown Junior A team. The emblem in the middle puck, with the accurate Mk.XII drawing, in use during the 1980s was always my favorite except that I hated the roundel formed by the corporate sponsor's name and the orange-and-brown trimmed uniforms that went with it.
The hockey team began in 1945 and my assumption has always been that the name refers to the Spitfires flown by RCAF 417 Sqn, which was adopted by the city and known as the City of Windsor Squadron during WWII.

Woohoo! An OHL fan! I used to hit a lot of the Plymouth Whalers games when I was living in Michigan.
Who designed the Ottawa 67's uniforms? Those things were seizure inducing.

If you are talking about the barber-pole striped uniforms, they are a historical throwback to the jerseys worn by the Ottawa Senators in the1900s to 30s. The old Senator jerseys actually had about twice that many stripes.

Cool pucks! Remember the Winnipeg Jets, Bob Essensa had the Avro Arrow and Rick Tabaracci had the Snowbirds “Speedbird” logo on their masks.

I like hockey but the season is to long!!!!!!!!!
Having Stanley Cup play-offs in June is the stupidest thing in sports.
Limit the number of teams that get into the play-offs and keep it to the best of five until the Stanley Cup and have it wraped-up by May.

The Pens are going to be *really* good in another year or two, providing they keep the core together (harder to do with the cap now), keep some veteran leadership (how old is Gary Roberts? 62?), and get a darn goalie. Fleury may be young, but he's shell shocked. He may be the second coming of Jim Carrey (not the guy from Ace Ventura)
