Tulio's acquisition of his new project (Happy Birthday btw) got me thinking about who of us have projects in the works. I know BDK has got a Texan going but who else has projects and what are they? I figure its easier for us to help each other if we know what we are up to.

Well, I realize that this is not what your were after in this thread, buuuutttt the M4 project I was telling everyone about down at Nashua is gathering momentum. A building has been located to house the project and the use of a VTNG H.E.T. has been donated to move it off of Disney Field at Norwich University. Wether or not this can be accomplished before snow flies is doubtful in my opinion so I figure we will have to wait till spring when the ground firms back up and we can drive the H.E.T. onto the field. Once we get it inside the hatches will be cut open (they were welded shut in the late fifties) and the real work will begin. N.U. aquired this piece for display from Uncle Sam in the late 1950's and brought it in by train. It was driven from the train station to Disney Field and the hatches were welded shut at that time. We are hoping that the interior is resonably complete and the search for interior fitments will be minimal.

This project is a joint venture between the Green Mountain Military Vehicle Club and Norwich University.

Yes Scott, I know this belongs on the O.T.D. board, but you asked and you didn't specify what kind of a restoration so I'm taking advantage. :snakeman:

If anyone one wants to see a couple of pictures of it as it sits right now just say so and I'll post them over on the Off-Topics board.

Jeff's (jcw) SNJ-4 should be ready to fly any day now. He also has a Alexander Eaglerock and a Stinson Relient under rebuilt plus a American Eagle in storeage. The SNJ will join the Brunner-Winkle Bird BK, Stearman, Spartan NP-1 and Champ has flyers.

Although I may not be considered a WIX'r as I do not post frequently I definitly monitor the board on a daily basis. As some know I am involved with a Spitfire Restoration in Comox BC the Y2K Spitfire Project. We are still working on it and I invite all of you to check out our website on our progress. Any information on parts/drawings etc is greatly received.

I don't know if it will qualify as a restoration project but I am working on a project to build a full size Halifax III cockpitsection including the flight engineers compartment. The instrument panels are complete and as soon as a suitable workspace has been found then construction will start in earnest using as many original Halifax parts and fittings I can find. Leftovers from our recoveries have been helpful with small but useful items which are also very difficult to find elsewhere. Some years ago I was extremely lucky when a complete and original control wheel and column assembly was offered to me.

Photographs are to be found on the website of the International Cockpit Club.

The only major item I still need is the throttle box, perhaps one day.....

Cheers

Cees

Heh, a little off topic but still pretty cool so I'll allow it

Let me know when they plan to move it and I'll see about driving up.

Technically I still own a 1/2 interest in a L-16 project (Which we got by trading our L-2M project), but I'm not doing any work on it. Quite honestly I am looking to sell out of the project to my partner and find something flying. I’d rather fly than build.

No time to rebuild...no time to fly... :(

I sent a e-mail to our clubs president voicing my concerns over the time constraints in getting it moved before it freezes in (it has sunk quite a ways into the ground) and he has seen fit not to answer me. We have a meeting coming up this coming Sunday at N.U. and I'll present my questions in person. I was "volunteered" to serve on the restoration commitee so now there gonna find out what there gonna get.

I'm gonna put up some pic's over on the O-T board and will update you over there and these guy's get back to more important stuff. (i.e. aircraft  )

Hi Scott,

You can put us (my brother Dave and myself) down for three Fairchild PT's (one PT-19A, one PT-19B, and a PT-26). Although the PT-26 is the only one being currently worked on. (And she has a LONG way to go!) We also are starting to get quite a few Stearman pieces stacked up in the barn. Will probably someday have enough parts to consider that a project too.

This PT-26 was produced by Fairchild in 1943, and right after being accepted by the USAAF, (as serial number 42-15471) she was "Lend Leased" to Canada where she served the entire war with the RCAF as serial number FH992. I just had her N number changed to N992FH in honor of her service in the RCAF. Her Fairchild construction number is T43-4341.

If all of that hasn't bored you yet, I can send over the info on the two PT-19's also.

Steve

Thanks Steve, Feel free to send the info on the 19s whenever you want to. Pictures are also welcome :)

We are currently rebuilding a pair of Edo 4930 floats for one of our Beaver.

After that, I don't know what's the future project!

Probably inspections.

I am restoring a WWII aircraft parts depot, consolidated USN and USAAF, one part at a time...

...But when I am not huddled under the warbird tree awaiting its sweet nectar, I am working on a Consolidated A6 tail turret for a B24D Liberator, a BT13B VU used by the British Pilot Training School at Cochran Field, a 1942 Indian 741 which was used by the RAAF, a 1942 Indian 841 shaft drive used in no combat, two 1942 Dodge WC53 Carryalls which I swiped from Maine, a 1944 Willys MB, a 1942 Ford GTBS Bomb Service Truck, and am finishing the restoration of a 1944 Consolidated Vultee Stinson Division L5E.

So buy my parts to keep my habit going! PLEASE!

Ever since Steve D. took all my PT parts away (well, ok he DID pay for them  ) I've been (slowly) progressing with a cockpit reconstruction of the mighty TBY-2 Sea Wolf. Since work demands around 60-70 hrs/week during the school year, little activity takes place until summer break.

Still waiting for that phone call from whomever has a TBY fuselage and center section that the neighborhood kids have been using for a clubhouse!

I'm assembling a B-29 in the backyard, does that count? (seriously, from the ass - forward!) :D

Anyone have a tail gunners seat, or escape hatch??
