I dunno if I posted this photo here before or not, but I recently rescanned the original to make some prints for a few friends and thought that ya'll might like to take a looksee...

This was Geneseo '88.

Boy, why does a P-40 look so right taxiing accross a scuzzy scrubby patch of dirt in a cloud of dust!

Thanks for a great photo...

I really miss a P-40 with the paint scheme of R.T. Smiths's number 77.

Very nice. That would look cool in sepia tone as well.

I liked it when it was Olive Drab without the teeth. Personal preference. I am glad to know it is flying again.

That was one dry summer!
They were sending the water truck up and down the flightline spraying water on the taxi areas to help keep the dust down.
It was my first Geneseo and I was fortunate enough to fly in with a couple of Stearmans.
Boy was that great!
thanks for the posting!
(BTW, I also liked it in the OD no-Shark paint from the year before!)

Glad ya'll like!

I too was more partial to the OD over gray scheme... especially before the red spinner. I'll see if I can find some older shots.

What font did you use? And what filter to make it look like a picture? (the white frame and crack in the corner)?

Everything was done by hand in Photoshop except the grain, which is a combination of original photo grain and a bit of added noise.

Very nice and tasteful Photoshop work. The crease in the corner of the black and white is a great touch!

That was my first year there also, the year I fell in love with the "core" of what is now the HAG. I have shots of Sentimental Journey flying over and there is a dust cloud visible. What a great day that was!

940 when it was RCAF 1058

I worked at the Pontiac Airport in Waterford Michigan when 940AK was initially restored between around 77-81 timeframe. The FBO where 940 was rebuilt was called Ly-Con Aviation. I put plenty of sweat into getting that thing airworthy. Pretty cool high school job. Tearing down horizontally opposed engines and restoring an F9F and P-40.

Awsome aircraft for sure. Am I right in saying that it is now painted as Scott's Old Exterminator? It spends time in the EAA Museum from time to time if I am talking abou tthe same aircraft.
