Need a Consolidated logo for Ol 927

Mon Apr 23, 2007 10:26 am

I'm working with Gary on some data plates for Ol 927. Does anyone have a scan or a good quality photo of the Consolidated Aircraft logo?

This is the best I can find...

Wasnt there one on Lil's nose before the paint job? I think I have a pic at home of a build plate under the cockpit I took at Reading a while back.

That's probably the one that is getting redone.

Gotcha, that would make sense

I have an old book on the life of Reuben Fleet...I think there is a full page with that logo. Will check when I get home.

I've got a buddy that works in the Consolidated plant in Ft, Worth...I called him and he has seen some stuff with Consolidated's logo on it...may be Con/Vultee...but he will check and see....

Here are a couple of shots from the front of a Consolidated manual dated 1944 for the PB4Y2.

They are not the best but maybe it will help.

Not much of an image, but I like this wartime "star & meatball" version--and in color, no less.

Thanks Taigh, I might be able to work with that.

That patch rules Dan!

Anyone else?

DB2,
Would that be "Reuben Fleet and the Story of Consolidated Aircraft" by Richard Wagner? I have a copy I scored at an aviation book sale at an airshow last year. Pretty interesting.

That's the book...I think I paid $1.75 for it a used bookstore some years back. It is a very interesting read...almost like a forgotten chapter in the history of aviation. Mine is printed on very high quality paper, and the pictures are beautiful.

Unfortunately, I just looked through it, and there is no Consolidated logo, though I could have sworn I saw it in some book!!!

Django - I've scanned the logo from p.43 of General Dynamics Aircraft and their Predecessors by John Wegg. Its scanned at 400ppi and then I cleaned it up a bit. Not the sharpest but it may help. Its a bit big to post but you can get it here:
