This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I was just going thru some of my old Air Classics and found, in Vol. 11 no.4, a picture of an XP-81 at Edwards Air Force Base.
The caption said that there were two airframes on the range at Edwards, and that both were slated for preservation.
Did either of these aircraft ever make it out?

One of the Convair XP-81's is now on display at the National Museum of the USAF inside the Research & Development, Flight Test Hanger at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. To see it, you will need to have ID and take a bus to get onto this part of the base unless you have a current military ID, since this hanger is located on a secured part of the base. Not sure where the second prototype is. It may still be at Edwards AFB at their museum there.

I was at the NMUSAF last weekend, went to the Research, Development & Test Hangers. Didn't see it. Might be in the restoration shop.
