This is my latest personal video and not quite warbird related. I flew banners for a number of years building time for flying experience and did some filming too. Check it out, you might like it....

Fun video....hell of a way to build Commercial hours, though!

Nice video, Chuck, that certainly is grass roots aviation. Any cute girls on those beaches? It is snowing lightly here this morning, not like the mild weather we had in Florida and Texas. By the way, look at the photo by your name. I think you either need to get smaller feet or a bigger wing walk on the T-6.

In my case, a bigger wing walk is needed! However, to be fair, I was only using it as a place to catch a few ZZZZZs, not as a step!

Fun stuff! I towed banners in a C-152 for a while. My pickup technique was a bit different, though. I came in steeper (about a 10 degree dive) and a little fast with the hook trailing and then "swung" the hook down and caught the wire, firewalling it and pitching up as you do in the video - the pitch up was what "swung" the hook downwards. Not as radical as I'm making it sound.

I initially tried it shallower per your method, following early advice, but when one guy told me that my hook was skipping along on the ground one time I ditched that since I had nightmares of the hook snagging something and yanking my tail off ...

Six of one, half-dozen of the other ... only missed the wire once in all my pickup attempts, and of course that was the day I demo'ed it for the FAA with a major Thunderstorm north of the field, it was early a.m. and I was late for my real job, the FAA couldn't come back for a month, etc.

Fun as heck. All civvie pilots should do it a few times. 8)
