We've got several of those around San Antonio. Heritage Airpark immediately comes to mind as does San Geronimo, Boerne Stage, Zuehl Field, Bulverde Airpark, and I think some more.

Is it possible somewhere in the USA to buy land for cheap and set up your own private airstrip if you wanted to?
This is part of my ultimate dream. Basically Fantasy of Flight but my house would be there and there really wouldn't be that many neighbors!

Up around Ocala, Flawduh, tha guy who invented tha Nautilus home exercise machines built a concrete runway sos his, half his age hottie wife, could fly their pair of 707s. They converted one of those birds into a "live African elephant Taxi." Last I heard, they had relocated over 50 of those pachyderms to Central Flawduh.....

Hey Kid: It's possible almost anywhere in the US once you get out of the New England area. Last time I checked on our field, 1 acre lots, runway frontage, were about $5K. We've got a N-S 3000' grass strip and a 1700' E-W. We're pretty isolated so the prospect of a noise problem is non-exsistant. Town is about 20 miles by road, the muni airport is less than two minuets by air. No regulations about building that I know of and no owners association to deal with.
Grab a copy of Trade-A-Plane and check the ads for a lot of good information.

You guys would like
Buckingham Air Park near Ft. Myers FL. It started out as
Buckingham Army Air Field, and now is home to the C-47s and Hueys of the Lee County Mosquito Control District.

Pat: This one is in Arkansas..On top of Spring Mountain, just outside of Russellville and directly across the valley from Mt. Nebo State Park..The power company, two big investors and a minor land investor own the majority of the mountain. Last time I talked to the guy developing the strip, there were a total of 18 people that that had bought property from him, but only three of us were on the airstrip. The power company is holding their portion of the land as some kind of preserve, so it will never be developed.
