Here are the pictures of the P47. The places where it doesn't look like it has been painted a thousand times, are worn down to the primer. It also has two different mains.

Looks like the canopy is made out of sheet metal, like the tail cone on the Widow! I guess Plexi must be a rare commodity!

The NASM could learn a thing or two from these folks!

Yes interesting canopies. Have you never heard of the Hard-top version T-Bolt and Widow? Republic and Northrop were the maker but outsourced to China (like pretty much everything else).

Oh wauw
I wonder why they painted it with the checkerboard, that's 78th Fighter Group "Eagles of Duxford" isn't it? Could it be a gift after WWII or was it captured?

The P-47 could use some tender loving care back here in the states!

Nice photos. Wonder what else is left out in the countryside, if anything...

They certainly missed a major point when they painted D-Day stripes on the wings - namely the fuselage has no stripes. Full 'wrap' stripes existed until mid-July when top half removed, then top wing started going in August, then all stripes disappeared in November/Dec..

Really would love to know the history of this bird.

Could be a Pacific Combat veteran that was Abandoned or Transfered after the war.

Anybody got a serial #?

Well its an N model, and a lot of the Pacific P-47s were Ns so combat history isnt out of the question. Would love to know the ser. no.
