Saw on the local 10PM news that a P-51D had a right main collapse Sunday at New Century Airport (old NAS Olathe) KS. The story was very brief and the angle wasn't great, but it appeared to be up on the gear, and I couldn't see any prop damage.

Not sure which aircraft, but it was polished, "AM" on the fuselage, black and white checkerboard on the top of the tail, red spinner and name on the nose. It was possibly in TF-51D configuration. Any ideas?

Sorry if this is a repost.

Not a real P-51. It appears that it was an experimental Stewart S-51.

Wow, great looking replica. With nothing to around it to compare, it's hard to determine it was not full scale. It even looked like it had an uncuffed Ham Stand prop and a TF style canopy.

Glad it's not a real P51, but still a bummer :(
