Just had a birdstrike last night on one of our helicopters as well.

I remember being in Panchito last summer when we had a birdstrike on take-off. It was a bit of a shock... a whole flock of seagulls flew up in front of us. We were lucky to only hit one. No damage thankfully!
Glad to hear that Fuddy Duddy is ok.

It reminds me of the time in the early 1990's when "Fuddy Duddy" had a seagull take out the plexi nose! They even painted a dead seagull over the forward entrance hatch.
I wonder if it's still there?

My wife and I left the show during intermission on Saturday and went out and found a spot near the East end of the runway to watch from. The bird strike happened nearly directly over the top of us and both halves of the bird landed within fifty yards of where we were standing! It must have been a pretty big bird because at first glance it did not appear to be near as high as the B-17. Or maybe the Fortress was just lower than we thought!

Ouch..That's a pretty big gash..must have been a nice sized bird.
So...Is Fuddy Duddy gonna tour this year? Anybody seen their schedule?

I was told the tour was going to be with Aluminum Overcast.

Would that stack up financially ? There won't be many people who would have the cash or motivation to fly in both ........ WIX readers being the exception !

If the past activity of General Lyons, the new owner of "Fuddy Duddy", is any indication, you won't see her on a barnstorming tour like her earlier days with the NWM, and later as a rental aircraft flying under the flag of the EAA while Aluminum Overcast was being repaired after the gear up landing.
The only reason for the extensive tour of Fuddy Duddy in the 2004 and 2005 seasons was because she was a replacement for Aluminum Overcast.
