Minnesota Premier of "Red Tail Reborn"

Mon May 21, 2007 8:43 am

Hello all,

Many of you saw Don Hinz or myself flying the CAF Red Tail Mustang at Airshows and Fly-ins across America. John Beyl and his crew are making good progress with the help of the Mark Tisler, Gerry Beck and the crew at Tri-State. We have raised a significant amount of money in the past 6 months. The fuselage and tail are structurally complete. We have an engine and we are very close to starting the rebuild of our wing at Odegaard Wings, but we still need your help to finish it up.

We are hosting the Minnesota public premier showing of Adam White's “Red Tail Reborn” at the Minnesota Historical Society on June 6th. This documentary will air nationwide on PBS, but this is your chance to see it first! There will be a cocktail hour, dinner, charity silent auction, Keynote address, (Tubby Smith is tentatively confirmed) and the documentary showing.

The details are on the attached invitation or check out the website. www.redtail.org You can see the documentary trailer on that website. www.redtailreborn.com We are seeking individual attendees and table sponsors. If you have any questions please call Dani @ 715-426-9716.

Those of you close to Minneapolis, please consider attending. If you can’t attend, but would like to help get the Red Tail Flying again, you can do that too at our website. This promises to be a special evening that will include several Original Tuskegee Airmen and a special presentation to the Hinz family. This will be an aviation evening not to miss!!!!

Hello Doug,
That is fantastic news about the wing. Now we can really get crackin'
For those of you heading to AirVenture there will be a showing of Redtail Reborn hosted by Micheal Dorn.
The PBS documentary Red Tail Reborn has been added to the 2007 AirVenture presentation lineup. Hosted by television star, Michael Dorn, Red Tail Reborn toured the United States shooting a number of rare interviews with the legendary WWII veteran pilots, The Tuskegee Airmen. This emotional documentary tells the tale of the Airmen, the sad lack of knowledge around the country of their existence, and of those who sacrifice to tell their tale.

AirVenture is widely regarded as the largest aviation event in the world, held annually in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The screening/presentation times are as follows:

7/24 11:30 am – 12:45 pm Skyscape Theatre (AirVenture Museum)

7/27 11:30 am – 12:45 pm Skyscape Theatre (AirVenture Museum)

7/29 8:30 am – 9:45 am Honda Pavilion

The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African American US military pilots. Despite America’s racism of the era, these men then went on to fight for America in WWII, garnishing one of the most impressive combat records in American history.

Red Tail Reborn goes on to investigate the Red Tail Project, a group of people determined to educate America about these forgotten heroes of history. While touring the country with a restored P-51 Mustang fighter plane painted in homage to the Tuskegee Airmen, the airplane malfunctioned during an air show demonstration, killing the pilot and destroying the aircraft. Now the Red Tail Project fights to rebuild the plane, both for the Tuskegee Airmen and for their departed friend.

The North East Ohio broadcast premiere this past February of Red Tail Reborn garnered over 40,000 viewers in one night. Red Tail Reborn will air nationwide on PBS February 2008.
