Hi guys,

Some years ago the wreck of a razorback P-47 was uncovered at a US beach after a typhoon. It was reported on in FlyPast if I remember correctly. The aircraft had originally bellylanded there and was covered by the tide. The article showed some photo's of the aircraft just after the incident and the recovery of the wreckage. The wings and fuselage were quite substantial but there was corrossion as well.

Does anybody know what happened to it?

Cheers

Cees

No current info for you Cees, but
According to WD 4 it would be this one:
P-47D 42-22331 wheels-up landing on beach, Ocean Isle NC 29.6.44
wreck exposed in sand by Hurricane Floyd .99
Carolina Historic Aviation Commission,
Charlotte NC .00
(incomplete hulk, code "A-362")
I could not get it's Registry page to load, but here is the page:
http://www.warbirdregistry.org/p47regis ... 22331.html
Scott: Would it be possible to add a Hot Link to the registry from the WIX hanger?

Hi BD,

That's the one.

Now according to the registry it is located at:

Carolina Historic Aviation Commision, Charlotte, NC, 2000
- Incomplete hulk, coded A-362.

What are the plans for it, would make a nice project for Westpac at Rialto I would think 8)

Cheers

Cees

Errrr Cees............

I have seen that bird not long ago.

There is really not a lot left of it. even for a static.

It actually sits outside.

It took me a couple of minutes to actually see it was a P47
