Is the Ham Standard model 5404 propeller on a Stearman considered a rare, & desired item. What would the going price for a serviceable unit (ballpark) be. Thanks in advance.

Robbie, Pete Jones would be the guy to call.

I'd call Jim Vauter at San Antonio Propeller. We got one from him a couple of years ago. 210 342 4452

Looking at my chicken scratches that pass for notes, I spoke with Todd at American Propeller a while back when I was looking for some blades for a 41D5926 hub. 530-221-4470.
Also the Stearman Restorers Association is an excellent resource!

Robbie,
The HS 5404 has some real advantages when operating on a Stearman powered by a Continental W-670 or a Jacobs R-775. I believe a type certificate is available for both of those motors with the HS prop.
Unlike the McCauley, there is no AD or RPM restrictions with the HS. Also, reports have a stock Stearman flying about 10% faster with the HS than one with a McCauley (and more still compared to a wood prop).
You may want to consider joining the Stearman Restorers Association. There's more knowledge with some of the members than you will find anywhere else, along with a readiness to help out with questions
