Yeah...the top one is the house my wife and I actually live in and is on the local historic register. There are 9 different colors in that house and I received quite a few shocked looks when I first started painting it!

The second one is a rental and was purchased about 2 years ago. It basically looked like a crack-house complete with drug dealers living inside...talk about your fixer-upper! It had been owned by several slum lords over the past 15 years and was referred to as "the money pit" But with a little TLC I think it turned out pretty nice.

Actually I do but I'll have to scan them at work. I'll try to post them in the next couple days.

Here's a some poor quality pics showing the "before" looks of both houses.

The first one shows our house with the steel siding which was covering up all the beautiful old cedar shake shingle work. The gingerbread fretwork had rotted away long ago so we were forced to have a new replacement made.



The next two pics shows the "crack-house" as it looked when my wife and I purchased it. The front porch had rotted off and the only thing still standing was the porch roof. The exterior had asbestos slate siding which had to be torn off. The house was sided in fancy-cut fish-scale cedar shingles and the entire porch was rebuilt using period turnings and woodwork.

'Scuse me Steph, but the maroon V-4 with HONDA on the alt. cover isn't a Yamaha of any stripe.
I hope you actually own that Honda. A V-65 that clean is worth keeping. I used to ride for many years. My last project bike now holds up a planter in the yard. I left cold turkey after 20 years riding when my best frien made his last ride.
Before that, in the early ninties I restored a 1975 Gold Wing, #1263 for a friend who owns a furniture store. Besides riding privelges, I was rewarded for my efforts with a Clayton Marcus queen size sleeper sofa from which I have watched many an NBA game. John got the Wing in totally trashed condition from a riding buddy of mine who had to agree to take two beater rice burners as throw-ins on the deal on a WWII Indian 30".
I could talk bikes a lot but playoffs are on. Go Spurs! (my second team).

I just realized, I must've pulled the wrong IMG code off of my Photobucket. I feel like such a putz! I will have to remedy that. I love Hondas, driven a couple over the years, but my new bike IS in fact very similar to that one, but it is a Yamaha Maxim-X 700.

What an idiot, off to find the right picture.

Here we go, it looks just like this one. It's in perfect shape. I am so excited to pick it up next week! Cleaned the garage out for its arrival tonight.

I love that Chewy has stuck around, that's pretty funny. However, as for those photos in leathers, you can expect in one hand and -- well, I think we know where this is going. I can't wait to get the bike, it will be so much fun.

John, I have also restored an old victorian house when I lived in San Diego. Anyone out there, it is at 1576 Law Street at the corner of Ingaham. I think wahadt you have done is great, just like preserving a vintage plane and even more so in one way as you or a family can live there. New modern houses like many new planesdon't seem to have that much character.
