Ok guys...........................GSA has 14 R1820-82B's up for auction out in Calif. There in storage cans, some have metal in screens. These look like good cores.

Just got back from there last weekend. The cans are all stored outside and have been for years. Most if not all are unpressurized and quite a bit of rust. I'm sure they all have some value and mostly for engine shops.

My resources show these are engines for Grumman C-1A "Traders". Just in case it helps anyone.

Rust on the outside of the cans or on the engines themselves?

As they're ex-CDF, I'd say from S-2 Trackers (now that the CDF have replaced them with Turbo Trackers)

The engines on the outside look fine in spite of the treatment they have endured. The rust is all on the exterior of the cans that are affected. All the engines that I know of were removed from the CDF S-2's that are now re-engined with the big turbo props. Hope this helps.
