Any of youse troops have the equipment to convert a PAL format tape/disk to NTSC format tape/disk? And would be willing to do it for me. I'll be glad to reimburse for whatever...
I want to get a Flying Legends 2007 tape or disk (whatever they're selling) and they don't usually do a NTSC format. Don't really know why. Red Admiral (when they had the contract) did both. This outfit that's had the contract for the last couple of years either isn't interested in the US (NTSC) market or doesn't have the equipment to make copies in NTSC.
One caveat, however. If Glacier Girl is the only P-38 there, I probably won't buy the video. I've already got what I need of her from PoF.

Mudge the picky

Mudge: Call around to the bigger video operations around you and also call the engineering department of your local TV station. Somebody should have a PAL player around you close by. I know that there used to be at least a half dozen places here in the DFW area that would dub between PAL, SECAM and NTSC for a decent price.

Just get a "Region Free" DVD player. You can get them for under $100. Then You won't have to ever bother with getting anything transferred. I have a PIONEER DV-490V & it works great!! I often buy WW2 British War Films that aren't available here in the USA. They're in a different DVD Region Format & play great on My machine... "Region Free" DVD players are tough to find in the stores, so just order one on-line.
Here's where to get one:

Digger...I'll do some research on the "region Free" player. Thanks. Had no idea there was such a thing. (Nothing personal but I named our Aussie Shepherd "Digger". Smartest dog I've ever owned. I swear he understands actual words.)

Mike...I actually don't know where that remark originated. I know 23 Skidoo and the Croul ships aren't there and having seen Red Bull's latest pictures, I know there's no chance for that one. It's called old age, I guess.

Mudge the geezer

Well I wouldn't get too excited at the prospect, fyi none of the Red Bull fleet of aircraft have ever appeared at any airshow in the UK.

As far as 'Region free' DVD players go, try one of the dealers on ebay. When we moved to the US last year, I picked up a brand new Pioneer machine, with warranty, for $75 plus shipping. It plays all my DVDs, from several countries, including those that people have recorded from the TV for me, faultlessly.

DVD's have been pretty well covered above, but if you get a PAL Tape then you need to get it converted to NTSC or buy the PAL Player and a PAL TV (Expensive but it's what we had to do). My wife buys and trades PAL and NTSC Gymnastics programs all of the time. She also has all of the hardware and programs to convert back and forth for friends on her Chat Boards. She could convert one over for you if you get one.

Tape? Tape? Hmmm, oh yes, I remember them. Didn't they make them in various versions (33, 45 and 78 RPM)? Weren't they the ones that were replaced by wax cylinders?

Mudge, you may not need to bother. I seem to remember hearing that an NTSC version of the video has been planned this year. I'll get Steve Connor to confirm that.
