RARE Aviation Films on TCM

Gang, Just a heads up that there's several RARE 1930's Aviation Films on TCM tomorrow (Tuesday, July 10th) Starting at 6am (Eastern)

The Films include:

6am: THE FLYING FLEET ( USN 1929 )

7:30am: DIRIGIBLE (Frank Capra 1931)

9:30am: THE LAST FLIGHT (1933)

11am: CENTRAL AIRPORT (See John Wayne briefly as an air crash victim!! 1933)

12:15pm: GOD IS MY CO-PILOT (The USAAF lent the studio 50 WW2 Warbirds including 2 Dozen P-40's!! 1945)

2.00pm: CHINA CLIPPER (1936)

3:30pm: WEST POINT OF THE AIR (Starring Wallace Beery, Great Early Army Air Corps Film with lots of mass takeoffs, formations & landings. DON'T Miss This One!! )

These times are for the Eastern Time Zone. Subtract an hour or two for Your Time Zone accordingly. It's great to see all these old 1930's Aviation Films. Many of these planes were brand new, less than a few months old & the Pride of the USA... Check'em Out Tomorrow (Tuesday) on TCM .... Digger

I see You're from Texas. That's where "WEST POINT OF THE AIR" was filmed, back in 1935 at Randolph Field:

Here's a shot of Wallace Beery & Robert Young discussing a crash scene. Wonder if they ate lunch in the Chow Hall that day??

Wallace Beery was a big time aviation fan (literally!!). Here's a rare photo of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Airport Sign. It was taken on June 26, 1930. Note the "PRIVATE PLANE OWNERS" such as Wallace Beery, Howard Huges, Roscoe Turner, Florence "Pancho" Barnes, Etc... Ha! Ha! Imagine walking into the Airport Diner & seeing Howard Huges, Pancho Barnes & Wallace Beery eating dinner!!

If memory serves, the P40s in God is My Co-Pilot are Merlin engined F models too. No intake on top of the nose.

Anyone watch "Island in the Sky" last night?

What model of C-47's were those?

They were 1950's USAF aircraft, they had a little protrusion right above the cockpit windows, in the center. This was ahead of the astrodome and the ADF antenna.

I can't seem to find a picture of this mod. If I do I will post it.
