Remaining Storch examples

I happen to have with me three shots inside of a hangar, of the remains of an Argentinean Storch (The MS something, with the radial engine), in civilian markings.

Additionally, earlier this year there were some news of a Storch rescued from Argentina, and I also have photos of it.

The thing is, I cannot post them here, so If you'd like, I can e-mail them to you.

Greetings to all. I am new to this forum and this is my first posting. Since April, I am the proud owner of the Fieseler N447FC refered to here, crashed in 1998 and now under restoration.
Thru the Preserved Axis Aircraft webmaster (sorry I can't recall the name at this moment)and also Gregory (I have yet to thank them properly) my Storch did in fact went to Italy. As of today, confirmed by log books entry of test pilot Anton Ridiger, the 156C2 went to Italy in August, 27 1940 with possible Italian number MM463. Possible location in 1941 with Comando 3A Squadra Aerea Cento (forgive me for the most likely mispell of the Italian words, information provided over the phone). In fact this was the first of the Storchs rebuilt by Jan Muller, he opted for the 12th Panzer Division "Hitler Youth" RR+KN std. spl. green scheme. I still have plenty of time to decide on the final paint scheme, thus it's military service is of great interest to me for such final decision.
This project is a true dream come thru for me after collecting Fieseler related items for many years, before it's purchase I was confident in my knowledge of this aircraft, Gerhard Fieseler and the company, now I think otherwise.
Any information, parts leads, regarding to this and other Fieseler aircraft is welcomed and I am willing to share likewise.

Congratulations Oscar... that's wondeful news about your Storch. It is great that an original example is being restored to flight. Is it possible for you to share some pictures with us. What do you expect your restoration time-line to be? All the best!

Thank you! For lack of skills and know-how, I'm honored to have Bruce Panzl doing the restoration, I have yet to find any other person with 6 Storch projects "under is belt". The damaged wing metal work is nearly completion. Lot's of work ahead on the fuselage damage. Depending on his work schedule, my best estimate is 18 months.

Congratulations on your Storch, and a historic example as well. Will it be powered by an Argus ? I know of at least one engine for sale in your part of the world, if required.

I'm yet to find out the condition of my Argus engine, I have been trying to get parts for it "just in case" so far I only bought 4 used cylinders and two used carburators, so I'm very interested on the possibility of another engine, besides I have a good friend in Texas also restoring a Storch in the same situation as I am, I would be grateful to you for any information you have on it's owner and willing to pay a "finders fee" if I can obtain such engine regardless of condition. of help? What region are they in? Hill country, coastal etc. ?

airnutz, my friend in Texas is Steve Hoffman, his emails is: sjhoffm@attglobal.net
He is rebuilding a French built Storch (MS500) with an original Argus engine. Tell him I sent you. That I know of, there are 4 Storch projjects currently in the USA in progress: mine, Steve's, CAF Delaware and the Fighter factory's (near finished). I England I only know of two by RLM Aviation (Mr. Lacey) and possibly one in the Czeck Republic I have not been able to confirm yet. Also one in Australia by Mr. Hitzke. Anyone knows of anymore out there?

Fieseler Storch is an awesome aeroplane. Was Piper Cup developed later than Fi Storch ?

Oscar: a couple of things about the Fi's from my experiences.

1. Find and use or have fabricated a tropic oil cooler. The small bullet cooler won't work for long in the Texas summers. Even with the big cooler, it ofter takes removing the engine side panels to keep the oil temp in the green range when ambient is over 80F.

2. Don't fly it with rubber soled shoes in anything but near freezing temps. The exhaust is so close to the rudder pedals that you will have smoking shoes in any other weather conditions. I set a pair on fire doing a 5 minuet low power ground run one morning!

3. Eventually you will have to do some work on the dog links in the landing gear. Check them for slop in the bolt holes at least every annual unless you fly her a lot. If you catch it early enough so that the grease bolts are not damaged, have the links bored out and steel bushings made and pressed in. Otherwise move up to the nearest AN/NAS bolt and sleeve accordingly.

4. You are going to need a small service bag to take with you all the time. You need to take enough stuff to be able to service the wheel bushings as a long taxi at someplace like Ellington or other big airshows during the summer will signifcantly deplete the grease in the wheel bushings. Also the rockers on the Argus are supposed to be greased either every 10 or 25 hours of runtime.

That's about all that I can think of right now from taking care of Mike Lee's D model and Jim Thixton's C model from years ago.

it possible that the one Lynn is talking about, and the "bird" in Houston
are one in the same?

cvairwerks: thanks for the tips, valuable information only obtained thru experience! By coincidence, Steve and I just have been discussing the oil radiator issue. We have seen also two original German types "t'D" together. I have a larger French made oil cooler that resembles the tropical German version.
Airnutz: Steves project is new in Texas not the same mentioned by cvairwerks. I believe Mike' Lee's is the CAF Storch in Delaware, I do not know about Jim Trixton's. cvairwerks, care to elaborate?

Yes, Weeks Storch is from the same of group of 5 rebuilt by Jan Muller here in Michigan. Mine is the first of that group that was rebuilt.
