I think FHC bought the static Wildcat from POF. I'm not sure the BuNo., but I know it wasn't in the WW Warbird Directory.

Here are the notes I have on this airframe. Please note I am far from 100% confident the information is accurate...

Designer: Grumman
Manufacturer: General Motors, Eastern Aircraft Div.
Model: FM -2 Wildcat
S/N: 086774 USN
C/N: 5832
C/R: N7835C ???????????
Owner: Planes of Fame Air Museum
History: FM-2 086774 USN, to The Air Museum (Planes of Fame) (circa 1976), N7835C (1986/11)
Notes: There is some confusion regarding the ID of this airframe. WD4 says c/n 5832, C/R has 5833 and the registry has 5832.

Does anyone have any information to add?

Regards,

Mike

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Doesn't the Planes of Fame have another Wildcat? Maybe they confused the ID with that one.

Isn't 91264 the Planes of Fame TBM-3 N7835C? How did they confuse those two?

I think this is the Wildcat in question. This picture was taken in Chino in Sept. of 2001.

POF TBM is N7835C I was going to post a picture but ran out of time. They had two FM-2 on site. I'll post a picture of them tonight. The one I didn't see there this spring is pictured in C17OBDAN picture
