NOS Sikorsky R5 tail rotor gearbox

Found in a pile. NOS and in perfect shape- I opened the wrapping. Note S prefixes for parts numbers. Memories of Mickey Rooney and "The Bridges of Toko Ri."

It's probably worth a lot to the guy rebuilding the helicopter.

Keep up the good work FF!

Shameless promotion

If anybody wants to see how I overcharge for my parts, have a look at the link below. When I'm not out stealing money from warbird owners, I pick up hookers here in Baltimore and don't pay, then go take money out of church collection plates, and for laughs, steal candy from poor children. But I do hire the Irish!

It's a pity Homer has been banned, for I was hoping he could find me a complete B-24 tail turret for $150! Homer I'm serious babe, shoot me an e-mail if you're reading this! I just got a control assembly from your neck of the woods, so I know how cheap parts are down there!

As for John (FF) ripping people off, let me say this. John's prices are consistently lower on virtually all the parts he sells, compared to the "big time" warbird parts guys...even those that I consider friends! If he wants to ask a little bit more than what a "normal" person would pay (and none of us warbird guys are normal!), then why shouldn't he? You have any idea what it takes to hunt this stuff down? As a person who has walked the junkyards, and driven across more states than I care to remember, I can tell you it can be a huge pain in the tushy at times! AND, these stashes don't always pan out either! Remember, he's gotta eat too ya know!

I've been dealing with John for a while now, and I honestly believe he's in it for the love of these birds, NOT the money!

Now if he would only find me some feed rollers for my -29 tail turret, I'll say some more nice things about him! :)

Ahh, B29 Gunner, you have fallen into my oriental trap...

...of warbird price fixing. Now here's the real story about how I get my parts. See, I get the junk off of those arabbers who drive horse carts around Baltimore selling fruit and molesting children. The deal is that I go into the finer establishments from which they are banned in order to purchase them 40 oz "beverage" in brown paper bags, lotto tickets, and pickled onions. When I come out, they leave me to root in the backs of the carts to get whatever "treasure" they have while they have their arabber "soiree."

It's a good deal for me, a good deal for them, and the finer establishments have thrown me a pickled egg once in a while out of deep gratitude for my community relations coup d'etat...

But man, that Schlitz Malt liquor and Colt .45 gets expensive and my "Secrets to Winning the Lottery" book hasn't been working, so I have to overcharge for warbird parts...

So there you have it folks. That's my story and I'm sticking to it...

Risky Business

Tue Nov 16, 2004 7:53 am

FF...you had me at "robbin' hookers and collection plates"! I so wanted
a FF South franchise! But then B-29gunner went and said all those nice
things about you...I'm so confused! And then the degradations of buying
the beers and payment in the occasional pickled-egg(they give me the vapours) ...sad times..sad times...

Just stand before your peers and admirers and repeat, " I am FF and
I am a warbird whore. A day without cosmoline, the crinkle of wax paper,
corrosion, busted knuckles and back-ache from prize-hauls is a day in
hell." Just say no! ..But first, find the '29 guy his rollers....

B29:

I totally agree with you about John/FF and his attitude. I've known him for more years than I care to admit, and have NO problems recommending him personally and/or professionally.

He is in it for the love of warbirds!!! :):)

Regards

Jase

What makes this real enjoyable for me, other than getting great ego trips from comments like this, is that I get to learn so much from the other people on this board. Jason, really enjoyed the tour of the L5 and BT, and your Cub is just super looking. YOU NEED TO GET YOUR LICENSE!

Trevor, really appreciate your business and enjoy supporting your hobbies.

I would like to take this time once again to thank all the great people here on the board. This is one great web community and just enjoyable as sneaking under a pay toilet door...
