Dan Dugan invited me for a ride on 242juliet a couple of saturdays ago, to Paso Robles. While getting ready to saddle up Tony B and the CAF dudes were doing flybys in the T-6's. I chunked in a picture of the trip down, Mount Hamilton,,I think. We got down there, huge place, two runways, a BT-13 was doing passes. They were having some kind of porsche time trial event around cones on the ramp, the ramp is huge. That was cool to watch. We went in for lunch. The resturant was having a wedding, and closed. The lady there was very cool. She hooked us up with chow while everyone was doing wedding stuff around us. The owner/chef, Matthew even came out during all of this and talked to us for awhile. Matthews, great place, good food, very pilot friendly. After chow, we mounted up and taxied to the museum, the airport is HUGE, and nobody is there. We got over to the museum, and we got waved in to a parking spot, with all of the museum planes, very cool. We got the "BIG" tour. Those cats were very cool. It was a work day or something and everyone was there. Everyone was extremely nice and showed us everything. Besides the planes, they had an M60 tank, a 113, a chunk of a spacecraft, antiaircraft guns, artillery, jeeps with machine guns, dudes, these dudes had everything, and were having a great time playing with it. We had fun then mounted up, just in time, they were spray painting an A-7 very near 242J, Dan had to tell me to hurry up, get the picture, get onboard. We stopped at King city on the way back for some cheap gas. Deserted, place looks like an "after the big one" movie. Some of the planes were...
F4 Phantom
A4 shyhawk
2, count em 2, T-33's, I gotta have one of those one of these days.
A-6, I love that plane, do you think since they have, or are have gone out of service, I can lay my hands on one of those?
S-2, Whatdya do when you do a gear up landing a Paso Robles? Get it on jacks, get the gear down, tow it to the museum, congrats, its a CDF display.
A7 Corsair
Something something, crusader, I think,,(sorry, it's beer thirty)
F-86, I haven't seen an all grey paint job like that before.
The James Bond Jet.
L-5, cool plane, hadn't realized there was that much glass in it, very cool, all around vision.
Nasa F10something, beer thirty again......It's late.....

Enough,,picture time...
