The guy who started that project is now working on an unlimited racer that will look and sound more like a mustang, but will still be all composite:

I think it is cool. I used to work on the BE99 and it just sort of reminded me of it.

You would think they could come up with a canopy that looked a little better.

From the ebay ad...
The Grand 51 Mustang is a one of kind, experimental, airplane. The target market price for this airplane was $750,000. However, as refinements to the landing gear (currently fixed gear configuration) and fuel tanks (smaller bladders recommended instead of large capacity wet wings), the owners have elected to place the plane on the market at an "as is" discounted price of $484,000/accepting offers.

Fixed gear, no flaps and a scoop that doesn't do anything. Kinda sounds like a late model Ford to me

I'm happy to see it finally surfaced, but sorry for the original builder of the plane who is one heck of a nice and friendly person..Sorry he lost the plane to these guys over a bunch of paperwork from what I hear.. I love 1932 fords, too bad there unobtainable....I love P51's, I'm glad there's people out there reproducing them, pistons or not...Good work Murdo Cameron....now go out there and get that plastic/piston Mustang in the air!

Amen to that. Murdo is a great guy and is busy pulling all the necessary equipment and sponsorship together to have a first class race team. And if all goes as planned the plane will be a screamer. If anyone thinks they can help, give him a call.

Okay, so the specific aircraft for sale doesn't have retracts...Cameron's design does, though.
