I understood this was a major accident, any reports on what is left of the machine. I'm aware it was a fatal accident and don't want to start a gore fest, I was more interested in whether there was anything which could be reused in the future.

I don't many details from the crash, but does anyone else besides me find it interesting that the tail wheel is down and locked?

I'm not sure but didn't the plane roll over on take off at about 1500 ft with the landing gear still down. It crashed upside down.

Boy, "paperwork" and "plate" are sure demanding high $'s these days.

I doubt that they are asking $250k for the paperwork alone. My guess is that there are other components, not involved in the crash, coupled with the paper work. Judging by the photos, the aircraft was shredded. I doubt there will be much more than the odd forging which survived the accident... such a horribly gruesome image.

Was this an original TF-51 or was it converted from a stock airframe?

Thank-you Mr. Allnut,... when I saw that mess, I assumed for 250k that there would be 'spares and papers'. Plus I would hope for some airframe, wings-n-feathers bits and pieces.

Hmmm, the add I read said along with the wreckage came a spare engine, stress doors, windscreen, engine mount, and formers.

If the engine is fresh it's worth $80K. A good core is between $30K to $50K these days. A new build engine mount from a fab shop in CA is around $80K. Others have them priced more reasonably. Depending on the condition of the rest of the items listed, the entire package of spare stuff alone could reach between $80K to $120K.

If you look at the photo of the wreckage, there are a LOT of good parts there! That entire tail cone appears repairable as does the horizontal. All three gear legs are likely intact. Just the items I can see are worth $$$$$$ and I'm certain there are lots of other "Bits" that will be salvaged out of what looks like a hopeless mess.

Don't judge the "Junk" too harshly guys....and save all your bent nails......
