Hi all,
Being as uninformed about the Skyraider as I am.
Could someone let me know if the plane had an ejection seat and if so, what was the model and maker of the seat ?
Thanks very much,
Don

I'm no expert either but some versions (A-1E ?) I believe had a ejector seat like the AT-28D.

Don,
Check this link
http://www.ejectionseat.com/yankee.htm
Also shows how it works, crude, but effective.

Don,
There is one other thing not shown on the web site, the versions other than the A1E/A1G (Fat Face) which are side by side seating, on the single pilot operated versions.
The Yankee extraction system is normally covered with a canvas cover, I think to protect from the elements, dust, etc.
Often wondered on the three seat versions, with two crew members in the rear fuselage, how the blazes they were supposed to get out, its a tight fit for a normal guy.

The Stencel-Stanley Yankee system from the Skyraider was also used in three of the four Piper Enforcers built (unfortunately, not in the one that crashed!)
