Personally, I like them in this order:

F-100D

F-105

F-101

F-104.

The F-100 was the first airplane ever, that I saw flying up close, when the Thunderbirds visited Guatemala, and one of them flew so close down to the ground where I was sitting, that the grass caught fire... and as a very neat thing, I distinctly remember the pilot looking at me! For a 5 year old, that was heaven on earth!

It was also the first airplane ever, that I have seen and heard going supersonic. Many years later the F-4 also went supersonic, but it was never the same.

But, if I had to really choose, the RF-101 would win hands down; there is something inherently beautiful on the photo Voodoo that makes it look really cool.

I think that should be RF-101 not 104......

Anyway the F-8 was the closest thing to a real aeroplane the US had from this era.........
