Questions about Glacier Girl

Thanks to Dan K and his excellent pictures of the P-38s at OSH, I have to ask, what was the damage to the engine on Glacier Girl that prevented her crossing?
Will there be another attempt, or is it just too risky?
And how long has it been, prior to OSH, did they try the crossing?

And on a side note, I'd just like to thank all of you, that spend your time here, and share this wonderful information, through text and pictures and links.
You bring so much of what I'm interested in, right to my finger tips.

P.S. Who out there could use a former USAF Corrosion Control Specialist?
I'd love to get my hands dirty again, working on aircraft.

GG had a cracked cylinder liner, it was allowing coolant to leak into the combustion chamber.

According to one of the reports that I read, they ended up having to change the other engine also. The reason for the second changeout was not mentioned.

From what has been posted over on airshowbuzz.com which was in constant communication, and almost like a sponsor for Operation Bolero II, they changed the second engine strictly as a precaution.

According to Bob Cardin, they will be making another attempt at the crossing next summer.
