American Air Day at Duxford ~ July 28th ( 25 images )

Sun Jul 29, 2007 1:34 pm

I thought you might like to see some pictures from yesterdays celebration of the American Air Museums 10th anniversey. While not a formal air show, it offered the chance to meet people serving now with the USAFE and celebrate 60 years of the United States Air Force.

Lest we ever forget the debt we owe to the 8th Air Force. Our freedom cost more than we can ever repay. Each glass plate
represents a single fighter or bombardment group and portrays the number of aircraft lost by that group in combat.

Ground displays were popular with the crowds

Great pics! If you notice on the tail of the 135 there is a Square 'D'. The tail designator for the 100th Group when they flew B-17's. Nice to see the current !00th crews have not forgotten where they came from.

I don't think it has anything to do with the crews...it's always the leadership you have to worry about with the USAF.

I agree, though. I was happy to see the marking on the Mildenhall 135s. My squadron tanks with them all the time.
