Hi

Anybody got any follow up news on the Ju88 and He111 recoveries from the Norwegian lakes.

I would hate to think this will just fade away as it was one of the best stories in recent years and bears regular updates from those in the know.

Regards
John P

John

The Heinkel 111 is stored at MVT Berlin and will eventually take its place with the collection after restoration in Hungary. This won't happen until the Ju 88G is complete at the same location.
Gardermoen are working on the Ju 88, the second fuselage section will also stay with them. The 88A-5 they were previously working on will leave Gardermoen next year and will follow the same route as the He111, although will most likely be used as a trade.

this thread ought to prove to any doubters the incredible nature of this beast Scott has wrought for us.

a question posed by an australian about a norwegian aircraft recovery is answered by a new zealander about what is happening in berlin and hungary.

now how's that for multinationalism and the ability to find news from and about all over the world?

Thanks Scott.

I hope the Heinkel was preserved first before it went into storage. Remember the Fw 190D that came out of Lake Schwerin in the early nineties? It corroded to bits unfortunately and they had to build a new fuselage (and new wings).

But looking at the way the aircraft were recovered there cannot be any doubt that they knew what they were doing.

My hat's off to them (as a figure of speech, not wearing any)

Cees

Hi

I have to agree with all of you this recovery was great and will add a lot of material for display in the future with more to come I suspect.

I also agree about the site Scott and others have helped to create here.

I think it could be even more multi national if next time an Australian was to be given and restore one of these Ju88s and fly it here - like me - now that would be multi jurisdictional!!! - only kidding - but seriously thanks to everyone in this thread it is great.

I hear rumors about more recoveries in the wind - anybody lurking here that would like to inform us some more.

Regards
John P
