This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Hi John,
I like a good Malt, coffee, shortbread and oatcakes - probably in that order!
Sorry not to have caught up with you during your Highland Fling. I sent a text message to your mobile (got the number from Robbo) but didn't get a reply so maybe you weren't receiving text (SMS) messages?
Where did you get to in Scotland?
Main areas of interest are bomber losses in Scotland - but also look at other WW2 losses in the area too. Also look at some of the WW2 bomber losses in Norway, Halifax a/c in particular, since it's just over the water from here.
Regards
Archie

Hi Archie
No I didn't get a text message but the phone was not much good anyway so I 'm not surprised that it didn't get to me - i missed a few like that - sorry we will catch next year.
I got to see a fair bit of Scotland East Fortune naturally
Edinburugh
Glasgow
Stirling
Aberdeen
Inverness
The Highlands in General
Fort William Etc
I just love Scotland
I must be one of the few Australians who could happily live there winters and all.
No doubt you saw my coments on East fortune which caused a bit of controvesy etc so i won't go over it - suffice to say I think they need to have a bit of a look at how they are doing the Concorde etc.

John, either your phone was duff or Robbo gave me a duff number
Not to worry. Aberdeen? What ever did you find to occupy your time in Aberdeen pray tell me?
Tue Nov 23, 2004 7:25 pm
Hi Archie
Ahhh Aberdeen
It was a nice day I had a full tank of petrol and it sounded nice so off I went - a few castles etc but not one of my better decisions I agree - anyway at least I can say I've been there.
I got to see a lot of Tornados at Leuchars the next day so that was nice as well as the odd Nimrod.
Robbo give out a duff number NEVER it was probably a duff phone.

Rob
I know, I know, my fault, I should have made a call rather than relied on text. A lesson learnt, I'll remember for next time! Trouble is I don't always remember about making calls until it is antisocial hours for calling which is why texting is so handy.
John, can you remember which castles you visited? Did you stop at the wee museum in Kirriemuir on your way to Leuchars? Och, next time you hit Aberdeen let me know, there are one or two places of interest if you know where to go.

Welcome back, John! Now everybody say "I'm a friend of John P.!" And the first step to being a recovering aircraftaholic is to admit you have a problem.................................P.S. Has anyone seen a "Crazy Mainer"?!

I fully expect some of the more militant posters to say the site was shut down by Bush&Blair, the CIA and MI5 in response to certain people knowing the "truth" about Iraq.
I'm a new member, here in part because of the increasing nuttiness, (virulent anti-Americanism) on the FlyPast board. Some folks can't let their politics go for a second.

Hi JBoyle
Firstly let me say welcome to the site and I hope you have a smooth and happy time with us all here.
The Flypast site was not shut down by any nutty process or political stupidity.
I have it on good authority that it was shut down by Starfleet Comand at the request of the Borg and Klingon Federations in order to prevent prior warning being given to the inhabitants of the Solar Plexus System of their invasion by friendly Federation Forces to stop the illegal trade in US Navy surplus aircraft technology which was considered a very high risk if it had fallen into the wrong hands , particularly the SBDs recently recovered.
Normal service will be resumed after the sucessful invasion and neutralisation process has occured.
I will now take my medication and again I wish welcome to our little world
Kindest regards
John P

Hi Manonthefence
Just put the work pingometre on it - still stuffed - Wisky all drunk - oatmeal cakes all eaten down to coffee and shortbreads.
Scott has at least had the benefit of a traffic hike today
