This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I like using Image Shack. It is very easy to set-up an account. There are other similar services as well.

But if you just want to get the one posted email it to me and I will put it up on Image Shack.

p-40 PHOTOS
Call me an idiot but I could swear the in flight photo looks like it was taken from the rear seat of a T-34 A or B model. Thats what the canopy frame, chafe strips, compass etc., look like. Note the windsreen looks like a T-34. I have several hours instructing and flying from the back seat.

Mike already emailed saying "Don't post that first one!!! Sent it by mistake!" I replied "Uh oh... I kind of figured there couldn't have been much room in the back seat!"
The post has been corrected.

Nice looking airplane. Buts what's up with the funky eyeball and I guess they must have had a lot of that shade of green paint!!??

That P-40 paint scheme resembles a shark rather than a Flying Tiger.

This P40 was originally a CAF aircraft, I think it was the first P40 delivered to the CAF.

Hi Crystal Lakes
Just to clarify
I was aware of the history of the P40 - it was just that I equate the color scheme it wore here with Col as an RAF/CAF scheme not that it was an RAF aircraft - sorry for the confusion

I believe this P-40 came out of Canada courtesy of John Paul in the mid 70's. I think another owner in CA had it for a while before Col Pay bought it.

You are right, my boss bought it from Cole in about 1994 or 1995, it has an Allison 1710-111, a little more hp than original.

Hi
Yes That true it came from the states after having been buried apparently in a dam - quite a lot of work had been done when it arrived at Cols but it was just like a giant model kit which required putting together. As I said I photographed most of the original construction and again the second rebuild after it crash landed so if anybody would like to look at these I can post them.
