Yeah, I hear there is alot to do. We just got the new house in Rockford, and it is beautiful there. I am going to become a Kalamazoo Air Zoo Volunteer. It is not too far. Kirsten, thanks again for all of the help that you gave me.

Welcome to the Great Lakes State, Stangdriver. What are you gonna be doing?
If you're interested in model building, might I suggest IPMS West Michigan? We meet the fourth Tuesday of the month from 7:00 - 9:00 at Plainfield United Methodist Church. There's also an IPMS Chapter in Kalamazoo (I'm a member of both.)
What are you planning to do at the Air Zoo? I'm a former docent there myself, and have been thinking about getting back into it.
Cheers!

Besides the Sand Dunes park, if you head south into Indiana (will get you more precise information if interested), there is the Monon Railroad museum (a must see) and there is also the Ropkey Armor Museum.
Saludos,
Tulio

Thanks guys. It is going to be a little while before I get there, my wife is there already. I am staying in the same field(air ambulance), I plan on doing whatever the AirZoo will let me do. I love to build plastic models, and would like to join the IPMS. I am also a huge fan of railraod museums as well. What is it about planes, trains, and automobiles?

You are also just a couple hours drive from Elgin Il, and the Illinois Rail Museum. One of the neat things there is that they have an operations night at least one night a month. For somewhere around 150$ you get to be the engineer on one of the three locomotives they run. If I remember fight they run one steamer, a long haul diesel and a switcher. They've got something like 6 miles of track to run around on. They've got probably 100K+ sqft. of barns with locos and cars in all states of restoration.
Also. the Merango(sp?) guys are in between there and you.

Of course, on the east side of the state (maybe two-and-a-half hours' drive) you've got the Yankee Air Museum, home of the B-17G "Yankee Lady" (I think she's the nicest looking Fort currently in the air, but since she's a "hometown girl" I suppose I'm a bit biased.)
There's also a small but decent aircraft museum on the north side of Selfridge ANG base in Mount Clemens.
If you have any interest in things Nautical, Michigan is a great state for that as well. We've got more coastline and lighthouses than any other state.
And don't forget, Chicago is only about four hours from G.R. Heck, you can even take a ferry across the lake to Oshkosh (although that's a bit pricey.)

Hi mustang driver,
Oh, darn. Sad to see you go.

Does this mean I will be the only WIX from Pennsylvania now?
