I have a new site for your locator:

Augusta, Kansas has a "Military Museum of Kansas" (Formerly Kansas Aviation Museum); It is located 3/4 of a mile south of US-54, on US-77.

Google Earth does not provide me with a good image so that I can give you the coordinates for this museum.

I was there this morning, and the owner was about to leave to go to church, so I was able to get only a peek at the exhibits. Outside, and of aviation interest, there is a Bell OH-58 (no serial number visible) and also a Bell UH-1H (serial was partially blocked).

Inside, three aircraft that look to be homebuilt, but painted on "L" bird markings, and there is also what looks like a Curtiss Jenny suspended from the roof.

There is a display case with some aircraft optics, all of them WW-II and there are also a couple of aviation engines (a two cylinder, and either an Allison or a Packard - cannot tell which one is which).

I will go back one of these days, when time will permit a more leisurely visit, and will provide more information.

Here is something I have figured out that helps with locations... There is no need to have a GPS unit with you, just note your position relative to a near-by intersection and the names of the streets that form the intersection. Note railroad tracks, major restaurants (McDonalds for example), names of parks and other land marks can help as well.

I do appreciate the effort (and others using the Locator I am sure), but that is kind of approximate. When I go spotting/photographing a site where I have only an approximate location I'll make a note like "North-East Corner of 1st Street and 2nd Ave."

I do appreicate the tip none-the-less.
