With the talk on another forum concerning the alleged last air show appearance of Dale Snodgrass in his "Skyblazers" Sabre on Memorial Day weekend in South Carolina, and his supposed procurement of a "new" F-86 that may debut at Oceana in September, I thought I would start a new topic in the WIX forum for discussion.

I loved watching Dale in his Sabre, and I am anxious to see what his new one may look like. Hopefully a very colorful and eye-catching paint scheme is in the works for this possible new jet warbird performer.

The word is that Dale will be flying in the "Dueling Sabres" formation with Ed Shipley and his F-86 at Oceana September 8/9. Can't wait to see that.

:D

I thin kit would be cool to see a Sabre painted in McConnell's scheme.

If you are correct, that will be a fine looking Sabre with Yellow Fuselage and Tail bands representing the F-86F flown by Double MiG Ace Maj. Gen. "Boots" Blesse. The YELLOW markings will look good in Formation with Ed Shipley's Sabre in RED Markings.

Again, IF this is the paint scheme for Snort's new Sabre, it's not what I would have hoped for, since I am personally partial to the F-86F Sabre markings from the 1954/55/56 time period when they put the large block U.S. AIR FORCE lettering on the sides of the fuselage (such as seen on the beautiful Sabre that was flown by the late Wyatt Fuller and like Snort's former 1955/56 period "Skyblazers" paint scheme). Something like the Arctic Red/Orange Day-glo marked F-86F's from the Alaska based "Arctic Gladiators" team from that same time frame would have looked exceptional.

That being said, I am excited about Snort's new Sabre and look forward Very much to seeing it
:)

If that is indeed the bird, will Snort be the new owner, or will he be flying it for Cavanaugh?

At this point in time, as far as I am aware, neither.

If Dale is getting a new F86, I don't think the Cavanaugh aircraft is still part of the big picture. (But I could be wrong, and things might all change again tomorrow, or the day after...).

Hunter1 - if that's the case - thanks for the news!

Snort is an outstanding pilot to put that Sabre in the air. Now we just have to work on getting him to pilot the Cavanaugh Panther. It would be great to see that beauty in the air again, at least in time for the Centennial of Naval Aviation in 2011.

Thanks for sharing that calendar! Nice to see that Snort will be flying the Cavanaugh Sabre at Oceana in less than 3 weeks. Really looking forward to seeing it with Ed Shipley's Sabre in the "Dueling Sabres."

Does anyone have any status on a new engine for Snort's F-86 Sabre? It was disappointing that we did not get to see it at Oceana due to the blown engine.

I wonder if there is any chance it will be ready for the Pope AFB, NC show the weekend of Oct. 6/7, or if this is a longer term project?

My Dad is Snort's crew chief and from what I've heard is unless a zero time orenda magically appears then they'll have to get one overhauled so he will most likely do the rest of this years shows in Mr. Read's mustang... However it is close enough to christmas to hope for a "Christmas Miracle"...

Does anyone have an updated status on the Cavanaugh Flight Museum Sabre that Dale Snodgrass was going to be piloting for air shows? I lost track of what was happening late in the past air show season, and I never heard if a new engine was installed in time for any shows in 2007.

Will Snort be flying this Sabre in 2008 shows and will it be going to the Heritage Flight gathering at Nellis in early 2008?
