P-40B Yellow #41

Sun Apr 22, 2007 2:48 pm

Kit: Academy
Scale: 1/48
History: P-40B of the 20PS, 24PG based at Clark Field, Manila.

Pilot Lt. Joe Moore in #41, Lt. Gilmore, and Lt. Keator just took off from Clark Field when bombs just started hitting the field. All three pilots flew together and got in a dogfight with Japanese fighters. Gilmore shot down 2 planes. Moore was able to damage one and possibly shot down another.

Enjoy,
Nate

Nice build Nathan. I am also a big fan of the early P-40's.

I have a few in my stash and I was actually thinking of doing a Phillipine or Pearl defender...thanks for the inspiration... 8)

Silver prop??

Yep, some early P-40's had a silver/NMF prop. Others were left silver in front and black on back as anti-glare protection.

A photo of P-40B's from Clark showed that they all had silver props.
