Very sad news


Last Friday I had a dinner with a couple of vets of the 359th FG, near Columbus. I have been planning to go meet them in the USA for a few years and I am glad I finally managed.

I am really glad I recorded our conversation (the full thing is 70 mins, but I made a 10-min crop of that describing the relevant bits to the artwork).

Ed sounds like a really great guy and pilot.

He will no doubt be missed by many!!

Ed lived in Salem Towne. His son, Tom, is a F-15 driver and a Col in the OR ANG currently CO of Kingsley Field at K-Falls. I predict he will someday in the near future command the OR ANG!

Another of Ed's sons was a Marine F-4 RIO and sole survivor of a mid-air between their F-4 and a Hughes Air West DC-9 in 1971.

I've seen too many airplanes destroyed by the term "Static Restoration."

There's a whole dispaly case of Ed's stuff I loaned to the museum
in the hanger along with his uniform which Teri put in the storage room off
the gift shop. I think the wall above the case has about 5-6 photos.
I took some pictures when Gary W. and I set it all up but I don't have
them anymore I had a info card in the case. I hope everything
is still intact.
There's actually a lot of stuff I have on loan there

Yeah, there is still a lot on display. I'm not sure what percentage of what you loaned is still out. At least a good amount is still out though. That is why I was thinking about a memorial plaque, or something. It would be displayed with his items. What do you think.
