i just caught the end of a b-29 documentary on the b-29. they showed a complete b-29 with bockscar's nose art. i was under the impression that the real bockscar was the forward fuselage on display at the usaf museum in dayton. which is the real deal??

The WHOLE airplane (BOCKS CAR) is on display at Dayton. Has been for 30+ years.

Now the Enola Gay started out as a NOSE section on display (the rest of the plane was at Silver Hill) in DC, some years back. Now the airplane is back together at the HAZY CENTER at Dulles Airport outside DC.

I believe that the entire Bockscar is on display at NMUSAF. I think the fuselage section you are thinking of is the faux Command Decision.

In the registry it shows that Bocks Car was "ferried" out of DM in 2002. Was she flown out or was she trucked out in pieces?

I think you will find that it was ferried to Dayton in 1961. The entry is a little unclear here I'm afraid.

The Museum website states that Bockscar was flown to the museum on Sept. 26, 1961.
