MAAM Visit

Tue Oct 09, 2007 9:25 pm

My wife and I hit the MAAM today. It was an incredible 90 degrees today and felt like July and not October. We worked up a pretty good sweat.

Other then a lady at the front desk no one was found in the museum to answer questions but I did get to see the Black Widow. It looked very nice but was crammed in with the rest of the museum aircraft and difficult to get any decent photos.

Oh ya, while I was near the Tobyhanna Army Depot I’m 90% positive I saw the Collings B-24 fly over. At first I thought it was a B-25 but it looked to chubby. It was pretty far away and I only caught a glimpse of it through some trees.

I love the MAAM! It is going to be so sweet to see a P-61 in the air. I also love the B-25 there.

The very cool and interesting Custer Channel Wing.

One of those neat ideas that din't stick.

Look at the quality of restoration going into that Blackwidow! I am in love.

I think the B-24 was on tour in Binghamton NY. I was told not too long ago but it was too little too late. :(

Thanks. Just when you think you've seen everything.

I think to fit under 'not everything' it needs polka dots. What do you think Eric? :D

Great photos by the way, and the MAM guys are clearly doing a great job on that P-61.

Indeed - Dove, I think - shorter, less rare and two fans. (MAM have two Doves listed.)

It seems so strange seeing the museum under normal conditions. I am always there during the WWII weekend.

That is the nicest shot of their F-84 I've seen. I would love to get a better look at it, but they always move it off of the ramp (and over to the other side of the field) during the WW2 weekend.

Thanks for sharing your pics! 8)
