Thanks for all the info, guys! :D I was really hoping she was a veteran of that mission. I guess none of those planes survived to this day. Oh well.

Not true. The ditched remains of Hadley's Harem were discovered a number of years ago, and much of the cockpit was retrieved and is now on display in a Turkish museum.

There was a place selling pieces of one of the Ploesti birds as well.

Really! Very cool that something survived 8).

I'm reading Mike Hill's "Black Sunday: Ploesti" right now, and I was thinking that there oughta be some remnants of those aircraft still lying around Ploesti.

I wonder which plane someone was selling pieces of?

I am not sure. I remember seeing the plaques with small pieces of sheet metal.
