B-29 Superfortress APU

Tue Oct 09, 2007 6:02 pm

I have a Auxiliary Power Unit I am hoping I can find out more information about:

Andover model V-32 Air corps type D2
Serial 11915 hrs 0689

Overhaul record from hr. meter:

Depot Date Hrs
OCAMA 6-54 UNK unconfermed?
OCAMA 11-56 328
SAASS 3-28-58 0116

OCAMA-Oklahoma City Air Material Area
SAASS-School of Advanced Air and Space Studies?
Who and where was/is the SAASS?

Can I find records on what plane this APU was issued to?
Is there a manual for it, so I can service and run it?
Any source for parts?

Thanks, Robert

Might check with Gary Austin (Retroaviation). Think he's got one or two APU's layin'around!

The V-32 was indeed used on B-29's. However, I doubt seriously you'd be able to determine exactly which aircraft that unit was in. I also think that they also used the V-32 in other various aircraft as well, not exclusively the B-29.

I hope this helps.
